Post-Tension Cable Locating in Utah
Find every tendon before you cut or core. GPR scanning with clear go/no-go zones marked on the slab.

Why PT slabs are different
A post-tension tendon is a steel strand pulled tight and locked off under tens of thousands of pounds of force. Hit one with a core bit and it can release violently, damage the structure, and shut down the job. The repair needs an engineer, a specialty crew, and usually weeks. A scan takes an hour or two.
PT slabs show up in parking structures, multifamily podiums, office buildings, hospitals, and many Utah homes built on post-tensioned foundations. If you're not sure whether your slab is PT, look for stamped warnings near the entrance or tendon anchors on the slab edge — or just call and ask.
What you get
- ▪Tendon paths traced and marked across your work area, including banded and distributed layouts
- ▪Rebar, conduit and other embeds marked in the same pass
- ▪Clear go/no-go zones at every planned core, anchor or saw cut
- ▪Approximate depth at each location
- ▪A written PDF report with photos of the markings within 24 hours, ready for the GC and engineer
How it works
- Send us the slab location and your planned penetrations. You get a firm price on the phone.
- We scan each location with a GSSI FLEX NX, which collects standard and cross-polarized data in one pass — that helps separate a PT tendon from the rebar around it.
- Findings go on the slab in the color codes your crew already reads, and we walk you through them before we leave.

Questions
How close can we core to a tendon?+
That's set by the project engineer, often several inches of clearance. We mark the tendon's location so you can hold whatever clearance is specified.
Can GPR always see PT cables?+
In most slabs, yes. Very congested steel, metal deck, or wet concrete can limit what radar sees, and we'll tell you on site if a location can't be cleared confidently.
Do you work on elevated decks?+
Yes. We scan from the top side, and from below when there's access.
